D.R.P SILICONE M.R. M. P. SILICONE FLUID. CHARACTERISTICS;- * M.R. MP Silicone fluids are clear silicone oil with improved heat-stability. They contain groups polymeric phenyl siloxanes for which they perform superior to M.R. DM Silicone Fluids in number of properties as mentioned below. * Greater thermal stability. * Improved lubricating properties, including metal to plastic and * metal to metal surface. * wider range of compatibility with organic materials. * Higher resistance to oxidation and gumming. * Like other dimethyl silicone oils these groups also possess the similar * advantages what silicone oils generally offer, for e.g. * Chemical and physiological inertness * Low pour points * Surface activity. Typical Properties:- * MP Silicone Fluids. MP 1. * Colour. Clear straw. * Viscosity * At 250C. 100-150. * Sp. Gravity Range at 250C. 1.06 -1.08. * Flash point 0C. 310. Thermal Stability:- * The most important characteristic of M.R. M P Fluids is that their thermal stability is several times more than Dimethyl Silicone Fluids. Therefore M.R. MP fluids are particularly suitable for high temperature applications. The grades MP 1 and MP 2 are recommended for such severe service requirements. Lubricating Properties:- * M.R.MP series of fluids have much greater lubricating properties than Dimethyl silicone fluids. In addition, they have much greater compatibility with metallic soaps and other organic additives normally used in the formulation of various lubricants and greases designed for very high or low temperature applications. Solubility:- * M.R. MP series of fluids are soluble in a wider range of organic solvents. Suitable solvents include alphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and their halogen derivatives, alcohols, linear and cyclic ethers, keytones, esters such as amyl alcohol, acetone, butyl alcohol, benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexene, dioxane, diethyl ether, dimethyl foramide, toluene, tri-chloroethylene, xylene etc. unlike dimethyl silicone fluids, M.R. MP series are soluble in even aqueous alcohols. This property expands its area of application, which was limited till now due to poor solubility of normal silicone fluids. Compressibility:- * Compressibility of M.R. MP series of fluids are much lower to that of dimethyl silicone fluids thereby finding uses in high temperature hydraulic transmission and where shear forces are extremely high. Chemical resistance:- * M.R. MP series of fluids generally have little reactivity and only attacked by aggressive Materials, such as concentrated mineral acids, free halogens, anhydrous halogenated hydrocarbons and super heated steam. They are resistant to water and most suitable for use in presence of plastics and most metals. These figures are intended as a guide and should not be used in preparing specifications. Silicone laboratory samples(SLM) are development products.
